I have never done a makeup favorites type of post before, this is quite exciting! 🙂
Hello there beautiful,
Today I am going to talk about my 2016 Favorites. After I took a break from blogging for a few months, I decided it would be best if I told you what products I have been loving lately – both old and new discoveries. I’ll try to break it down in categories, that way it’s a lot easier to follow.
Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation & Concealer! I fell in love with this foundation not long after I first got it. It’s the first high end foundation I ever tried and I am glad I decided to spend more on my base – my skin looks absolutely flawless when I wear it. The Urban Deacy All Nighter Foundation also makes me look like I have a filter on my face and I always grab it when I know I’m gonna have a long day or if I am going out, as it is very bullet-proof.
I love the Maybelline Dark Circle Eraser even though I wish they had more shades available in the UK. Towards the end of the year I finally got my hands on the Tarte Shape Tape which is also amazing and I can see why everybody is raving about it.
Bronzing and Contouring
I’ve gone back and forth between quite a few bronzers and contouring powders, however I always grab my NYX Highlight & Contour palette when I am on the go or if I am in a hurry. It has a good selection of shades so I know I can always rely on it to warm up and sculpt my complexion.
I am one of these people who are absolutely obsessed with a strong, intense highlight at the moment. And after seeing so many of my favorite YouTubers rave about the Sleek Solstice palette I had to get it. The pigmentation is amazing, and if I use a setting spray right before applying it, my cheekbones are blinding. I remember it being marketed as an eyeshadow palette, and I do like using it on my eyes every now and then, but if you wanna make your cheeks pop then you definitely need this in your collection. Gerard Cosmetics Star Powder in Grace has been another one of my favorites this year. The shade is very flattering on my skin tone and the pigmentation is amazing!
My favorites throughout the year have been the Gerard Cosmetics Brow Bar To Go and then L’oreal Brow Plumper on top. I recently started experimenting with a brow pomade, I like it but it’s too soon for it to make it to my list of favorites.
I don’t really buy single eyeshadows as I usually just use palettes, but this Baked Eyeshadow from Pure Colour (New Look) is absolutely amazing! The color is so flattering, pigmentation is great and it also works perfectly as a highlighter. I just haven’t been able to put it down and I always took it with me when I traveled so I had to mention it.
Again, I have two. It’s pretty much a tie between the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette and Makeup Revolution Fortune Favors the Brave. They are both amazing and they are both coming with me when I travel as I like to have a few options when it comes to doing my makeup. They both have perfect shades for day to day, more subtle looks and a few pops of color, which makes them very versatile.
I never really understood why people rave about Too Faced’s Better Than Sex until I actually tried it. 2 coats and my lashes look just so full, dramatic and long. The reason why I hesitated to buy it is most people say it’s a volumising mascara but nobody bothers to mention that it also lengthens. However when I got a sample of it I pretty much ignored all of my other mascaras for a while. I need to go and repurchase a full sized one ASAP!
Another item I absolutely had to mention is the L’oreal Infallible Fixing Spray. It locks everything into place, prevents my face from getting oily, helps me correct any mistakes in case I have too much powder on my face, it’s affordable and it also feels very refreshing!
I rarely ever wear anything else than a liquid lipstick, and given that my makeup collection has grown so much this past year it is really hard to pick my lippie favorites. The ones that I use most often are Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in ‘Mannequin’, Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kits dupes off aliexpress (especially Koko K, Mary Jo K, and Candy K) and my trusty Rimmel Provocalips in ‘730 Make Your Move’.
And I think that sums up my 2016 makeup favorites! As you can see there’s a few other categories missing, as I feel I either jumped from product to product and still haven’t found the one, or just happened to change certain routines towards the end of the year.
What products did you love this past year? And what would you recommend I try next?
Until next time… xoxo
