Today I thought I’d do something different and instead of putting up a review or a makeup tutorial I am going to do the Beauty Lover Tag! I saw this a few weeks ago, I thought it was quite interesting and I saved the questions. I figured it would be nice for a change and it would allow you to find out some things about my beauty preferences and such. So without further ado, let’s answer some questions! 🙂
If you could have anyone in the world do your makeup, who would it be?
I don’t follow a lot of makeup artists, but I would have to pick Hrush Achemyan (@styledbyhrush). She usually does Kylie Jenner’s makeup and other celebrities and I think she is so talented. I would love for her to make me look flawless!
What’s your top makeup tip?
Under eye creasing? Bake. 😀
Face feels or looks heavy? Setting spray.
Make sure your contour is not too orange/warm.
Not exactly a makeup tip, but it’s still related. Honestly unless it’s a compliment or constructive criticism that you can actually learn from, screw what others may think. As long as you have fun with it and feel good in your skin, who cares?
What one makeup item could you not live without?
Hands down concealer. My hereditary dark circles make me look like a zombie and I hate it. I’m thankful to have clear skin (even though I always go for full coverage foundations) but I hate this darkness under my eyes. I am a beauty lover and believe in natural beauty and bla bla but dark cirlces… not beautiful! I wish I could be one of these people who only get dark circles when they don’t get enough rest… given how much I sleep I wouldn’t have any problem haha!
What one skincare item could you not live without?
Argan Oil! If you’ve read my Empties & Trash post the other month then you probably know that this time last year I was already starting to get concerned because my skin was showing signs of aging – the fines lines were getting waaaay too stubborn and way too out of hand for a 21 years-old (at the time). I’ve seen a massive improvement since I started using Argan oil and it also helps with cuts, scars or burns (yep, I’m very handy with my curling iron).
What are you worst at when it comes to applying makeup?
Drawing on my eyebrows… I’m better at it than I was a few months ago, but I am still far from perfect. Thank you 16-to-21 years-old Denisa for overplucking!
What’s your biggest pet peeve when it comes to beauty?
Lack of accessibility to certain brands and/or overpriced brands in the UK (compared to the States). I am a makeup and beauty lover, but I don’t see the point of paying more for an item and probably have to sell a portion of my soul for the shipping. Like hello beauty and makeup world, there’s a continent called Europe and a rainy island called the United Kingdom that would really appreciate the diversity people have overseas… can you start expanding please? Like eventually? No? I have the biggest appreciation for brands such as Gerard Cosmetics who offer free international shipping without having too spend too much ($35), other brands should start learning from them. Besides, their discount codes make the products so much more affordable!
What’s your favorite makeup era?
As shallow as I may sound, the era we are in right now. Especially Instagram makeup era. I like bold, dramatic, eye catching looks, unrealistically flawless skin and so on – you get the drill. For me makeup is fun and a boost of confidence… I usually get both when I go all out and take all these unnecessary steps in my makeup routine, whereas if I just slap on some foundation and randomly wiggle some mascara before work I am like “can I please crawl back under my blanket and go back to sleep please?”. Don’t get me wrong, I am a beauty lover, I really appreciate and admire natural beauty, but when it comes to myself give me that cake face! It’s a great way to get inspiration and besides if you think about it, these girls have skills – whether we’re talking about blending, creativity or just editing the picture.
What’s your guilty pleasure product?
I don’t really know… Liquid lipsticks? But why would it be a guilty pleasure though? What’s bad about having a lipstick that wears for hours, doesn’t move and most importantly doesn’t get all over my boyfriend’s face?
What’s your underdog product?
That’s a hard one. Underdog as in a product I don’t really love? I would probably go with Benefit’s It’s Potent Eye Cream. I bought it after reading a lot of positive reviews and hearing people saying it’s really helped with their dark circles, but to be honest I’m two months in and I didn’t really see any difference. My under eye area is pretty the same as before, and while I like how it feels refreshing in the morning, it’s not good enough to justify the price point. Yep, don’t love this one – unless it miraculously starts working overnight and my dark circles start fading away.
What’s your favorite makeup product of 2015?
Another difficult one! Damn. I feel like it would be a tie between Rimmel London’s Provocalips which is straight up the best liquid lipstick formula I have tried so far (in terms of what I personally want from a liquid lipstick) and Primark’s P.S. Love… Under Eye Concealer which is a life savior but I only discovered it in December 2015 (hey it’s 2015, still counts right?!).
And that is the Beauty Lover Tag! I would love to know what are some of your favorite products (2015 or at the moment), the product you cannot live without and biggest beauty pet peeve?
Thank you for stopping by!
