I love this new Benefit Party Like a Rockstar set! I recently picked it up and I decided to film a get ready with me – it may not be the most unique or revolutionary makeup look, but I was super excited to play around with my first high end palette!
Keep on reading this post for my first impressions or you can watch me use most of the products inside the set in the YouTube video below! Enjoy xoxo
So in the set there is a sample of the Porefessional, 4 eyeshadows (Call My Buff, Guilt-y Pleasure, Thanks a Latte & Kiss Me I’m Tipsy), a sample size I would say of the Hoola bronzer and a brush to apply it, a cheap and useless sponge applicator and sample sizes of their popular mascaras, They’re Real! and Roller Lash.
Needless to say I wanted to use all of these pretty eyeshadows! I wanted to see how they perform and how pigmented they are. And damn, these are awesome! I started by applying a primer on my lids so that the colors would show up brighter and last well throughout the day. While ‘Call My Buff’ doesn’t show incredibly well on my skin tone, the other three eyeshadows are brilliant. I applied ‘Guilt-y Pleasure’ all over my eye (literally), then ‘Thanks a Latte’ in the crease and ‘Kiss Me, I’m Tipsy’ to add some darkness. The thing that I was most impressed with was the fact that they didn’t crease throughout the day – most of the eyeshadows I use tend to crease or at least fade a little bit in the crease of my eye, but these stayed on perfectly.
I also contoured my cheeks with the Hoola bronzer. I used the brush that came in the set as I don’t have anything that looks like it in my collection and I was curious to see how it works. Holy hell this was pigmented! It didn’t seem like I had a lot of product on my brush, but once I applied it under my cheekbones I was blown away by how well it shows up. If you decide to get this, remember to go in with very little product and a very light hand! It took me a little to blend it out. I like the brush for contouring, but for blending I had to use something fluffier. However next time I know not to use as much!
Lastly, I had! to use the They’re Real mascara. So many people on the internet rave about it that it’s one of the main reasons why I got the set in the first place. I think I was at the point where I wanted it to blow my mind so much that I actually wasn’t extremely impressed with it on my upper lashes. It’s good, but I think I need to use it a few more times before deciding whether or not to rave about it. What really took me by surprise though was how well it worked on my lower lashes – never have they looked longer and fuller! I loved it on my lower lashes, but as I said on my upper lashes I still need to use it a few more times before having an opinion: at this point I feel like my L’oreal Telescopic does a better job and is a bit cheaper too.
And that’s all for my get ready with me using the new Benefit Party Like a Rockstar set. I am really glad I decided to pick this up and I am debating whether or not to buy one more of their Christmas sets (I actually have my eyes on two other Christmas edition sets, we shall see). Another products that I used for this makeup look was the Milani Lip Intense Liquid Color in ’02 Pink Rave’, a black gel eyeliner from Music Flower, black liner in my water/tight line from my Physicians Formula ‘Nude Eyes’ kit and of course my Bobbi Brown brushes. Aaand of course I am wearing my Desio contacts in ‘Icy Blue’ :).
Thank you for stopping by!
