Hello beauties, today I have a bold New Year’s Eve Makeup tutorial! Apart from the lip color, all of the products I used are from the drugstore so it’s really affordable if you’d like to recreate it! Also, it’s pretty dramatic so it’s perfect for these of you who want to go out of your comfort zone… or for those of you who like going all out, like I do! Enjoy ♡
Alright, so just like I’ve done in my last couple of posts, I’ll put this in simple steps rather than going into detail about everything I do. It’s gonna be easier and quicker for you to read, hopefully!
Step 1: Prime your face so that your foundation goes on smooth and flawlessly! There’s a lot of bases on the market, but I use one that’s mattifying and works well with my current favorite foundation. (all of the products will be listed at the end of the post)
Step 2: Foundation and concealer: you want a perfect base for such a bold look. I used my L’oreal Infallible foundation and the L.A. Girl Pro Concealer for this.
Step 3: Optional – cream contouring. I recently picked up a concealer from Primark/P.S. Love… and I really like it – review coming soon!
Step 4: Set your face! I don’t want to be shiny, especially not in photos! I used the anti-shine powder from the Makeup Revolution Protection Palette, and then my current favorite powder, Maybelline Fit Me, on the rest of my face.
Step 5: Bronzer and blush. I like how bronzing adds more dimension to my face and blusher makes my cheeks stand out a bit more.
Step 6: Highlight! This bold New Year’s Eve makeup is mostly focused on dramatic eyes, but that never stops me from using a bunch of highlighter – I just love it! I usually apply it on my cheekbones and then whatever is left on the brush I just dust it in the center of my forehead, on my cupid’s bow and on the bridge of my nose.
Step 7: Eyebrows! If you are one of these very few persons lucky enough to have perfect brows, I suppose this step isn’t necessary. However I need to fill them in and shape them, they’re terrible by themselves!
Step 8: Optional – prime your eyes to ensure your eyeshadows won’t crease throughout the night and that the colors appear brighter.
Step 9: For my crease/transition color I used a mixture of a white, pink and purple eyeshadows. Not sure where I was going with this, but I feel like pink or purple look lovely with a black eye makeup/smokey eye.
Step 10: Apply a black eyeshadow or pigment on your lid, leaving the inner part empty. I used a pigment/’eye dust’ from Makeup Revolution for this and oh, I’ve been meaning to use this pigment for ages! It’s so pretty and I think it was the perfect choice for my bold New Year’s Eve makeup idea.
Step 11: Blend that black pigment. I used a dark brownish-taupe color, and I have to admit the ‘eye dust’ was a lot more difficult to blend than I imagined. But if you happen to use the same things I do, just take your time and it’s gonna be alright!
Step 12: Lower lash line and inner corners: I chose another M.U.R. pigment for this which I’ve used for others looks before and I love it! It’s like a pretty dark gold/rose gold and I think the combo was just great!
Step 13: Highlight the brow bone and optionally, brighten up the inner corners of your eyes a bit more.
Step 14: Liner, mascara and falsies. As per usual I am using a black liner in my tight and water line, but I feel like if you’d want to go for something than opens up your eyes more (white, skin tone color, etc.) it would look just as good. I skipped the winged out liquid line for the first time in months today, and moved on straight to lashes. Of course, falsies are optional but I think they finish off the look perfectly.
Step 15: Lips! I was going to keep this tutorial all drugstore, but I am obsessed with this Hydra Matte Liquid Lipstick in ‘Serenity’ by Gerard Cosmetics. And to be honest, if you can manage to find a 35% off discount code, they aren’t that pricey.
And that’s all for my bold New Year’s Eve makeup look :)You can expect a few more looks coming soon!
Let me know what you think in the comments below, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
