Christmas 2014 ♡ Santa Hat inspired Nails

Hey there! So yesterday I uploaded a 2 in 1 nail tutorial on YouTube and I also had a blog post on the first part of the video, the reindeer nail design (click to read). And today I thought I would just go ahead and write about the 2nd part of the video, in which I showed how to create a santa hat inspired nail design.
It’s super fun & easy and in my opinion it’s also perfect for the holiday season, since Christmas is less than two weeks away 🙂

So if you’d like to see how to get this design then please keep reading or you can watch the 2nd half of the YouTube video that will be at the bottom of this post. Enjoy
Okay so I wanted to start with the hat design first, beacause the other nails are really simple to do.
So I put some red nail polish on a piece of paper and using a toothpick I kind of drew a hat shape and I filled it in. I am not exactly sure how to properly explain it, so bare with me 🙂
Then I took some white nail polish and I applied that on the bottom of my nail – like doing a french manicure, but not exactly. And I also placed a big dot at the top of the hat 🙂
Next I took some black nail polish and I outlined everything. As I mentioned in the video, this is not my original idea – I got my inspiration from a picture I saw somewhere and I was trying to recreate it the best I could remember. In the picture I am talking about, the hat had some stitches on it (I guess that’s what you would call them) so I drew a few of these as well 🙂
And that’s it for the hat. Now of course you can do this on all of your nails since it doesn’t really take long and it looks really cute, but since I always am super lazy I just went ahead and did something even easier on the rest of my nails.

So I applied a slightly sparkly silver nail polish on each nail at a time and then I placed a blue flower rhinestone on the bottom of each nail. It goes without saying that for this you can use any other nail polish of your choice, and you can leave it just like that if you don’t want to add rhinestones. If you do want to, then keep in mind that you don’t have to use blue flowers like I did – but these really reminded me of snowflakes (I don’t know why!) and that’s why I chose them.
Lastly, you will want to secure everything with a top coat and that’s it for this nail design 🙂

I hope you like it and thank you for stopping by!
