I realized I have never done an empties type of post (or video on my YouTube channel) before so today I am going to tell you about the products I liked and finished and also about the ones that didn’t work out for me the way I wanted them to and are ending up in the trash. I’m not going in any particular order, by the way!
#1 Maybelline the Falsies Volum’ Express Mascara
This made it to the empties pile (who am I kidding, I don’t have a pile… I mean it was just laying around the house) for months now, but for some reason I never got around to throwing it away. It did an awesome job at lengthening (that’s what I need from a mascara) and it adds a bit more volume to my already pretty full looking lashes. Lasts all day, doesn’t flake/smudge and it is separating. It also curls the lashes a little bit and I don’t think I have had anything bad to say about it!
#2 L’oreal Infallible 24-HR Matte Foundation
Absolute holy grail foundation! This is already the second tube I finished and needless to say I repurchased. It’s full coverage, it stays matte and lasts amazing throughout the day, looks amazing in photos and videos, and it doesn’t sink into my fine lines. I think it’s best to use a moisturizer before applying it and also it sets rather fast so you need to move quickly, but other than that I have no complaints about it! Love, love, love!
#3 Primark/P.S. Love… Volumising Ultra Black Mascara
Another mascara that has been part of my empties stuff for a long time – I am such a hoarder! For £2 this was really impressive! I did need two coats to get best results from it, but I loved the length it gave me and how well it performed throughout the day. I loved it and wanted to try another mascara from P.S. Love… , but for some reason I never got around to it,even though I have been trying out a few of their makeup range (check out this post to see what I’ve got recently).
#4 Pura D’or Argan Oil
I was very fortunate to receive this for review in the beginning of last year and I have used it tons and tons! Mostly on my face, but also on my hair every now and then. I feel like last year my skin looked way older than I am… I had so many fine lines and expression lines on my face that I was seriously starting to get worried. Fast forwards 8 months later, my skin looks and feels so much better. I wanted to repurchase it, but I managed to find a deal on the NuMe Argan Oil… I like it but that one has so many ingredients in it, I don’t know what to think! The Pura D’or Argan Oil however is more natural (argan oil is the only ingredient in it) so I need to get around to ordering another one. The only complaint I have is that the lid broke on me, meaning I couldn’t close the bottle… thus having to be extra careful not to drop it – but other than that I think it’s definitely worth looking into.
#5 Nivea Q10 Plus Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream
The only other non-makeup item of this empties and trash post. I don’t know how amazing it is by itself, but I bought this when I received the Pura D’or Argan Oil and they worked so well together! I wanted to repurchase, but I somehow ended up getting a night cream from Olay. However I’ve seen nice results using this and the argan oil together!
#6 Makeup Revolution Focus & Fix Concealer
I got this in the first Makeup Revolution order I placed at the end of 2014. I have really bad dark circles which are hereditary, meaning I cannot do anything but cover them. Sadly this concealer did not work out for me. It doesn’t cover very well, so I used it to brighten/highlight for a while. Now that I have other products for that purpose, this concealer has to go. Don’t get me wrong, I think Makeup Revolution products are awesome (I use something from their brand in pretty much every makeup look I do… it’s so hard to stay away!) but I would suggest not getting this concealer.
#7 Rimmel London Wonder’Full Mascara
This is a trash item, not part of the empties. I don’t know what it is about this mascara that I did not enjoy. Everyone hypes and raves about it, but for me… I don’t know. I tried to make it work lots and lots of times, but it’s not as amazing as the other mascaras I have or tried, so I decided to let go of it. It’s not bad, but it’s not what I want either.
#8 Makeup Revolution Amazing Curl Mascara – Black Brown
Another thing I got in my first Makeup Revolution order… why have I not thrown this away sooner??? Again, it’s not a bad mascara… if you like really natural looking lashes. But I feel like the only thing it does is give length and separate. Nothing extraordinary about it, so I didn’t use it too much. I discovered that if I would apply this before my L’oreal Telescopic I would get really nice long lashes, but by itself it doesn’t do what I need. Besides, it’s pretty old by now and since I don’t reach out for it, it has to go as well.
#9 Rimmel London 25HR Lasting Finish Foundation
I was loving this in the the first half of last year, and this is the 2nd bottle I finished. It was a great foundation, really nice coverage and all of that, but for some reason I like my L’oreal Infallible Matte better. However I did repurchase it because my mom would enjoy using it every now and then, and I still give it a go when I want to change things up a little bit.
#10 L’oreal Telescopic Mascara
Back in the summer time I decided to see what the hype is about. And what do you know, this mascara is actually worth it! It’s probably my favorite mascara at the moment and I made sure to use every last bit of it before throwing it in the empties pile – yes, I keep/use mascaras for more than 3 months, don’t judge! As I am going in holiday back home soon, I just repurchased because this does the job perfectly!
And that is all for this empties and trash! It’s so good to declutter! I have a couple other items that I’m almost out of, but this post is long enough by now, so I will keep the other products for a next empties post.
What have you used up lately?
Thank you for stopping by!
