Hey there gorgeous,
Recently I picked up the H&M Velvet Lip Cream in ‘Pep Talk’ (check out this haul to see what else I got), a beautiful and vibrant pink that I know I’m going to get a use out of this spring and summer. I am all about matte liquid lipsticks and I want to grow my collection so I thought hey, why not check out H&M’s formula. I’ve seen that a lot of people had good things to say about their fairly new released/revamped beauty range and after I eventually I fell in love with my New Look Matte Liquid Lipstick in ‘Mink’ I figured I might as well try out the H&M lip creams too.
I wanted to go for a nude at first but as they didn’t have any in stock apart from the tester I decided it’s about time that I fall in love with pink lipsticks again. Pep talk is such a beautiful shade that I am actually pretty glad the nude one was sold out. H&M’s velvet lip creams retail for £6.99 and I’m really hoping that they are going to come out with more shades.
The lip cream has a really nice, sweet smell that kind of reminds me of cupcakes or something like that – love it! The formula doesn’t feel drying on my lips which is a great thing, but it does tend to go sink the fine lines on my lips after a few hours. I wish they would have gone for a standard doe-foot applicator as those are easier to apply the color and even overdraw a little bit with. I feel like with this kind of applicator I have to be a little bit more careful as the color can look a bit patchy if you look closer. Not sure if it’s happening only because Pep Talk is so bold and vibrant, but on the bright side it isn’t noticeable from a normal distance: if you look closely and carefully at the picture above, you can probably tell that I could’ve done a better job at applying it, whereas in the picture below it looks perfectly fine. The two pics were taken pretty much one after the other, so it’s not like I did anything to make it look patchy in the first one. I have a post on this makeup look here, if you are interested in finding out more about how I got it 🙂
What I love most about the H&M Velvet Lip Cream is that it is long-wearing and transfer proof. That’s all I care about when I buy or want to buy a new liquid lipstick. This only transferred on my napkin after having greasy food, however it didn’t go on to my glass(es)/cups or cigarettes. It passed the kiss test too 🙂 The wear time is good as well – I got a good 7 to 8 hours before it started fading a little bit, mostly on the inner rim, but at the end of the night I still had to break the formula with a lip balm in order to be able to take it off. It does remind me a little bit of my Rimmel Provocalips, which are still my favorite liquid lipsticks.
Bottom line I am really happy with my H&M Velvet Lip Cream in Pep Talk. I love the shade, wear time and the fact that it is transfer proof, but I still have to find a way to prevent it from looking patchy when having a closer look.
Have you tried out anything from H&M’s beauty range? What products should I check out? Also, what other liquid lipsticks do you recommend? 🙂
Thank you for stopping by!
