So excited to be doing some holidays makeup look /tutorials this month :)! It’s the best time of the year and I am excited to come up with different looks for Christmas (and New Year’s)! Today I have a pretty affordable look, as I’ve been using a no-name 88 eyeshadow palette for the most part of the tutorial! Keep on reading if you’d like to find out how I achieved this warm, mauve-brown and golden eye look!
As per usual I primed my eyes first in order to make sure that my shadows appear brighter and stay on for longer without any creasing.
I wanted to use a warm eyeshadow for my transition/crease color. So I picked a medium, warm chocolate brown shadow and applied that generously from the crease towards the brow bone. Of course some of the colors in this palette require you taking some time to build them up, but hey, I think it’s worth the extra few seconds!
Then I picked up a mauve-brown shadow and I applied it a little bit lower in the crease. Because of the lighting I reckon it looked a bit more on the brown side in the pictures, but in real life you could definitely see the purple undertones :). However I wanted to be able to see the transition between the medium brown and this mauve one, so I went back in with the first chocolate shadow that I used and reapplied it as a transition color.
“I am going to go for a blue makeup today!” is what I told myself before sitting down to do this look. However I realized that I took the dark mauve eyeshadow a little too low on my eyes and at this point going for a pop of blue didn’t seem like the perfect combo. So I just decided to apply the colors that I have in my crease on my lower lash line as well: I took the chocolate brown first and smudged it quite low on the lower lash line, then using a precision brush I applied the mauve color right under the bottom lashes.
And now what would a holidays makeup look be without golden eyeshadow overload??? At first I used ‘Guilt-y Pleasure’ from my Benefit Party Like a Rockstar Christmas gift set, but I realized it wasn’t showing up as bright as I hoped, so I went back to my 88 eyeshadow palette. I knew I have this bright and really pretty gold shade in there and I kind of went crazy with it: I applied it on my lids, inner corners, inner third of the lower lash line, under the brow bone as a highlighter and also popped it on my cheeks to look extra sparkly. Gold eyeshadow overload? Mission accomplished!
Next steps are pretty basic and repetitive: black liner, winged out liquid liner, loads of mascara and false lashes (if you want to use falsies, of course). I feel like I always talk about these steps, but let’s be honest, they’re so easy it doesn’t even need explaining.
So let’s move on to lips then! At first I wanted to use a normal lipstick and lip gloss combo – haven’t done that in quite a while! But then again, this look turned out completely different than what I had in mind in the beginning so I decided to go for a liquid lipstick instead. To be honest, I pretty much want to switch over to liquid lipsticks, as they stay on for hours and hours, don’t need touching up and are transfer proof (at least the ones I love are!). So I chose a liner & liquid lisptick combo that I’ve used in previous looks/videos: a dark brown liner (which is actually an eyeliner, but I never use it on my eyes as I prefer to use black) and my Rimmel Provocalips in ‘Make Your Move’. Since I had a mauve-brown combo on the eyes, I figured I’d go for the same thing on my lips… and besides it’s somewhat comparable to some of the shades Kylie Jenner wears. I don’t know about you, but I love me a Kylie lip color! I realize most people prefer a red lip with a holidays makeup look, but hey you’re free to do whatever your heart desires 🙂 .
Enough rambling, jeez! That’s all for my holidays makeup look 🙂 I hope that some of you could find some inspiration and enjoyed checking this out!
Let me know what colors are you planning to wear around this season? I’d love to know!
And of course, I also have a YouTube video on this look. I would be really happy if you wanted to check that out as well!
