L’oreal False Lash Sculpt Mascara Review

The L’oreal False Lash Sculpt Mascara is new at the drugstore and I decided to pick it up and put it to the test! I love trying out new mascaras, and since this was new and on sale at Superdrug*, I couldn’t help but pick it up – especially since in the very few reviews I’ve read online everybody was talking about the not so usual type of wand!

I have been using the L’oreal False Lash Sculpt mascara for a little over a week now, and I feel like I have enough opinions about it.. so let’s get started with the review! 🙂
loreal-false-lash-sculpt-mascara-review-demo-wandSo as you can see the brush of the L’oreal False Lash Sculpt mascara is very different than your usual mascara wand. I was reading the description on line and the idea behind this type of wand is to make it easy for us to tightline. Now I have to admit I was a bit skeptical about getting this too close to my eye-balls, as the shape is kind of unusual I wouldn’t want to poke my eyes out, you know. But like with any other mascara, if you manage to touch your tight-line, yeah you will get product there and really help frame (or well, sculpt) your eyes – but if not, you can totally use it as a normal mascara (duh!).
loreal-false-lash-sculpt-mascara-wand-review-demoThey also say that with this wand it’s easy to ‘fan-out the tip’ of your lashes. I kind of agree – while it doesn’t make me look like I’m wearing falsies, I noticed a slight difference in how it makes my lashes look: they are a little bit fanned out and since I love going for cat eyes, I think this is a perfect combo.

Let’s talk formula. On the back of the L’oreal False Lash Sculpt mascara it says something among the lines of ‘extreme sculpting effect fibers’ – now I don’t understand why fibers? It’s a normal formula, more on the wet side and there are no fibers in it (or maybe I just don’t know what fibers are, aren’t they supposed to be these annoying little dust-looking like particles that are really irritating when they get in your eye?).
Since it’s a bit of a wet formula, keep in mind that you can mess up and get mascara on your eyes. It still happens even with the different kind of brush, so don’t rush while applying it.
loreal false lash sculpt mascara review demoThe results are really nice. It gives me good length which is usually what I am looking for and it makes my already naturally voluminous lashes look fuller. I don’t feel like it curls, but when I was doing the demo I tried to curl the lashes of my left eye and I don’t think it looked much different. I wouldn’t normally curl my lashes though, or care about it at all, because I feel like it takes away too much length – so the way it is, is perfect for my needs.

I also really enjoy the results I get on my bottom lashes. Because of the different type of wand it’s actually pretty easy to coat each and single lash without messing up, and I feel like the only other mascara that impressed me with the results on the lower lashes was the sample of Benefit They’re Real from their Party Like a Rockstar Gift set.

There is one thing that you should keep in mind about the L’oreal False Lash Sculpt mascara is that it can get a bit clumpy while applying the second layer. Clumpy lashes don’t bother me, but I know some people don’t enjoy them. On the bright side though, I feel like it gives really nice results in one coat so you can skip trying to layer it – the second coat doesn’t add that much more anyway, I reckon.
(yes I know the screenshots I took for this demo are a bit off… lesson learnt, next time I won’t do one eye at the time!)
review-new-loreal-false-lash-sculpt-mascaraI have worn it for up to 16 hours a day before and it lasted great. No flaking, no smudging and no transfering – big thumbs up! However! The formula is not waterproof, so if your eyes water for whatever reason (I had the flu while testing it out, imagine what a mess that made!) it will smudge. It will also smudge if you fall asleep with it on (no, this time I was not too lazy to remove my makeup before bed… but having the flu made me fall asleep randomly and not care about having products on my face). These are the two things you should keep in mind if you would be interested in trying it out: avoid crying and sleeping with it on, and your lashes will look perfect throughout the day. I feel like 16 hours is good longevity and frankly I think not a lot of people need makeup on their face for that long anyway.

Bottom line I think I really like it. I am not sure if I love it yet, or if I like it more than my L’oreal Telescopic, but I am really glad I decided to buy it! I feel like this L’oreal False Lash Sculpt mascara gives me really nice results and lasts a long time, which is great. Would I recommend it? Yeah, I think it’s worth checking out a few reviews before deciding whether or not you need this in your collection.

And that’s all for my L’oreal False Lash Sculpt Mascara! I really hope that you found this review helpful! I am pretty sure that Boots* has nice deals on L’oreal makeup as well, so it may be worth keeping an eye on their website if you want to save a little. What mascaras do you enjoy using right now? I am always on the market for a super lengthening mascara (I already have volume naturally), so if you have any suggestions I’d love to know!

I have also done a YouTube video in which I review the new L’oreal False Lash Sculpt mascara and also show the demo live 🙂 You can check it out if you’d like!

Thank you for stopping by!

  1. It looks good but in my case I need some good curling, because my lashes are very straight and they tend to point downwards :/ This is probably not a formula for me!

    1. Hmmm yeah probably not. I would suggest looking up some reviews for the Rimmel Super Curler mascara in that case, I feel like that one curls my lashes a little bit… but then again they have a bit of a natural curl so it’s hard for me to tell. xo

  2. Awesome review Denisa or is it Deny(saw you on fb)? I love falsies but I don’t have the $ to get my lashed extended all the time, which one do you recommended that can give me that falsies effect?

    1. Thank you! The real name is Denisa, but most people call me Deny – that and I don’t go by my real name on Facebook lol 😛
I’ve never gotten my lashes extended… I just use one pound lashes from Primark, some styles are really awesome, surprisingly!
And that’s a hard question… I feel like I have yet to find the ONE mascara! I’d say my L’oreal Telescopic is my favorite at the moment, but at the same time it’s far from falsies effect… but mixed with the Rimmel Super Curler on top or Makeup Revolution Amazing Curl (which is useless by itself) I get really nice results 😀
