Spring decluttering, anyone? After reorganizing my room I decided to go through my makeup collection and get rid of the products that I didn’t love, that I haven’t reached for in ages or that are long overdue to be thrown out because they are probably out of date. This is going to be a long post so without further ado I’ll get right into it!
Makeup Revolution Amazing Lipsticks
I got these about 2 and a half years ago, and I did love them but nowadays all I ever wear is liquid lipstick. I haven’t reached for them in ages and sadly they are just taking extra space in the back end of my drawers or in my little makeup collection storage.
Sunkissed Cosmetics Eyeshadow Quads
Oh, how I loved and cherished them when I first bought them! Coming to England and having money and all this makeup accessible was so exciting. They weren’t bad, I did a look or two that I really enjoyed using these shadows, but now I have better eyeshadows that perform a lot better and that I reach for, and since these quads haven’t seen the light of day in more than a year, it’s time to part ways.
L’oreal Infallible Liquid Lipstick in ‘404 Corail Constant’
Yes, that’s a typo there. And while the Infallible Liquid Lipsticks are some of the best I’ve tried, this particular shade was not up my alley from the beginning. This very unflattering orange glittery thing should of ended up in the trash a long time ago. Yes, thing. I wouldn’t go as far as calling it as lipstick, due to lack of pigment.
Makeup Revolution The One Blush Stick
I can count the times I used this blush on the fingers of one hand. Cream blushes is still something I am not into, and since this has been chilling around for nearly 2 years, I think it’s finally time to empty up some room.
Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer
This is one of the first concealers I tried, and this is my 3rd tube. I still like it, even though it’s not giving it to me the way it used to. I guess I just found better alternatives, but this is still great nonetheless! This one has been nearly empty for a few months now but it hasn’t made its way to the bin so it’s about time it does.
NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams
I was super excited to get my hands on them as they are hyped a lot in the beauty community. ‘London’ is a beautiful shade, and I’m not exactly sure why I’m not keeping it in my makeup collection, but ‘Sydney’ has to go for sure. I find that it’s not as pigmented as I would like, it needs 2 coats to be even, and the color is not quite right for me. I made a mistake when I was placing my order and ended up getting Sydney instead of another pink… sigh. Sure, I can still pull it off when I’m tanned I suppose, and for a long time I was wearing either this shade or ‘London’ to work but they start feeling so drying and gross so quickly. The air conditioning at work is to blame for that, as all of my face gets crazy, but still I was not very impressed. I think that the Lip Lingerie range is a lot better.
Makeup Revolution Shimmer Bronzer
I don’t mind the fact that it cracked when I dropped it. I actually fixed it and then dropped it again shortly after, haha. It’s just that I am not into warm toned and sparkly bronzers anymore.
Seventeen Long Lash Mascara
It didn’t wow me at first, but then it grew on me. It didn’t dry out yet, but it’s 1 year old now so..
L’oreal Telescopic Mascara
This was one of my favorites last year and I did repurchase it a couple times, but this tube has dried out a long time ago. I might get it again in the future, not sure yet.
Makeup Revolution Lip Lava Lipsticks
I remember liking them when I first got them, but since they transfer I never really wore them. And they’ve gone solid hard in the tube, so there’s that.
Seventeen Stay Time Foundation
I remember really liking this foundation last year when I bought it. It has great coverage and it looks good, but then I just stopped using it, for no reason. The tube is nearly empty anyway, so there’s no point in having it take up unnecessary space in my makeup collection.
L’oreal Infallible Mattifying Base Primer
At the moment I’m not even sure why I was so big on this primer, but this is my 2nd tube. I grew out of it when I discovered pore minimizing primers and last time I tried to use it, it was very watery. I guess that’s what happens when you forget your makeup in direct sunlight.
Seventeen Falsifeye HD Mascara
I saw a couple videos on YouTube where the results were quite impressive, however I feel like I have came across better mascaras. Just like the other Seventeen one, it’s quite old now so it’s time to go.
Primark/P.S. Love Gentle Face Wash
This too has been laying around for 2 years without being used more than once or twice. I remember I wasn’t very keen on the smell, and makeup removing wipes are much more convenient for me.
Maybelline Master Precise Eyeliner
This didn’t impress me. I felt like it wasn’t black enough for my liking and every now and then it used to smear in my inner corners as soon as I applied it. My eyes are a little watery at times, not all the time though and not extremely wet either. There was nothing special about this liquid liner…
L’oreal False Lash Sculpt Mascara
I loved this mascara! But it’s over a year old now, and probably empty/dried out for a while. Time to make room for new ones!
Makeup Revolution Go! Eyeshadow palettes
There was a time when my makeup collection consisted mostly of Makeup Revolution products. Especially when it came to eyeshadow palettes. I loved them, but now I never reach for them anymore… Sad.
MUA Velvet Lip Lacquer in ‘Dash’
I wore this a few times and looking back at the review I did last year I actually didn’t mind it. But now I feel like the color is not up my alley anymore.
L’oreal True Match Foundation
I liked this foundation, I always wore it to work as it’s a bit more natural than my other ones. I wanted to repurchase but I went for a BB Cream this time. However it was worth the try!
Butterfly Collection Bronzer
The first bronzer I’ve ever bought, found it in a random shop in Bucharest. It was really cheap too. Looking at it now it doesn’t seem very orange either, but it’s hard to tell. It’s so old, it dried out so badly that I can’t even swatch it anymore!
Essence 3D eyeshadow in ’10 Irresistible Summer Sea’
I loved the darker, ‘3D’ shade of this duo! The lighter one is not special, but the one on the left is still giving it to me! It still swatches beautifully, and I’m tempted to keep it, but apparently it only has 6 months shelf life. And I’ve had it for at least 3 years…
Jordana Best Lash Extreme Mascara
I remember when this was all the hype on YouTube. I liked it, but it didn’t blow my mind though. And since I bought this in summer 2015, I am not sure why it’s still wasting space in my makeup collection!
Covergirl Eyeshadow Quad in ‘260 Coffee Shop’
Highschool days, waddup! Wait, high school? That’s ancient. And I have better, and more pigmented eyeshadows now. But I have to admit, I am surprised I have yet to hit pan on any of these shadows!
Benefit It’s Potent Eye Cream
I bought this because I saw a lot of people saying it helped them with their dark circles. Unfortunately, it did nothing for the discoloration under my eyes. It felt cool and refreshing but I think that’s not enough to justify another £25, so I’m not going to repurchase.
Burjois Smoky Eyes Trio in ’17 Life is Pink’
This is ancient as well, and despite it not being pigmented I used to love and cherish it when it was one of the very few products in my makeup collection. Now it’s forgotten about, and yep there are better eyeshadows on the market.
Makeup Revolution Lip Gloss Tubes
I have so many Makeup Revolution products in this decluttering post that I actually feel kind of guilty. I am by no means trying to bash one of my favorite brands. But these glosses also haven’t seen the light of day in a good 2 years.
L’oreal Infallible Matte Foundation
Another favorite of mine! I’ve gone through at least 3 tubes of this, but then I decided to mix it up and try other things too. I have yet to try the other Infallible foundations, but I think I will give them a shot sometime soon, because this Matte one was amazing!
Makeup Revolution Amazing Care Lipsticks
Last one, I swear! The idea behind this is good, as they are meant to nourish your lips. They are more nourishing than they are pigmented. But again, I never reach for them, so bye bye.
A few hours and a couple empty&clean makeup bags later, I am finally through! I am surprised by how much stuff I have been holding on to. And how many of these items I’ve forgotten about! Not gonna lie, it feels good to have a little more room and be able to organize everything better. But at the same time throwing out so much makeup, loved or not, has me feeling some kind of way.
When was the last time you went through your makeup collection and decluttered? How much junk did you throw away? I’d love to know!
Until next time…
