Good morning beauties! 🙂 I’ve been planning on doing a review on Makeup Revolution’s Amazing Curl mascara for a few months now, but I’ve just been lazy… however today I decided to finally start working on it, so here we go 🙂
Enjoy reading! xo
Makeup Revolution is getting more and more popular in the beauty community and the quality of their products is usually pretty impressive. They have big hits, but also have some misses… Let’s see what I think about this one.
So for £2 (both on Makeup Revolution’s website and at Superdrug*) they promise ” perfectly curled lashes that’ll last all day <…> This formula boosts the curls whilst separating the lashes with this curved wand that shapes the lashes even more!”.
Now, I am not very sure what to say about that… my lashes do have a little bit of a natural curl, so maybe that’s why this mascara has yet to blow my mind... Do my lashes stay in place all day? Yes, but if they named it “amazing curl” I was expecting to… well, get some pretty impressive curled lashes. I don’t think that happened – but I’ll let you look at the pictures and be the judge of that.
However, let me talk about the other things that I am or am not looking for in a mascara.
The wand’s size is pretty normal (not too tiny, not too fat) and slightly curved. I like that, it’s easy to get these lashes in the inner corner and also it makes it easy to apply on the bottom lashes.
Volume? Quite frankly, I don’t believe I get any volume from this. I do have lots of lashes, and also I own this mascara in black brown so maybe that’s why… but I really don’t think that it gives volume. As you are about to read, in my opinion all this does is improve my natural lashes a little bit, but nothing that’s worth getting excited for.
Length? Yes. If you ask me that’s the only thing it gives. I don’t get super long lashes, but in two coats they do look much better than my natural ones. It opens up my eyes a little bit too, which is good. I also like it for the bottom lashes, it gives some length without them getting too spidery haha.
Does is separate the lashes as it says, or does it clump? It’s separating. Very. I don’t think any of the mascaras I’ve owned so far did such an impressive job at keeping my eyelashes separate. With other formulas, even though my lashes don’t necessarily get clumpy, my lashes tend to stick together.
Waterproof & long lasting? They have a waterproof variant of this mascara that you can choose, apparently this isn’t, but it does last on the lashes. I’ve been wearing this for around 15 hours (typical work day) and it stayed in place, did not smudge or transfer, and it didn’t move even though I’ve walked through rain/snow.
Formula? On the drier side. It won’t make your lashes feel extremly dry or uncomfortable, but it definitely is not a wet formula. However, I am not sure if it’s just mine or whatever but I highly suggest avoiding from getting this on your water/tightline by mistake – it irritates my eyes like hell, and makes them itchy LOL. Weird…
Bottom line 🙂
Would I recommend this? That’s really up to you to decide. I like dramatic and bold lashes, not natural ones. Obviously this one didn’t work that great for me – it’s NOT bad, it’s just not what I want. It may be the color or the formula, not sure. I think it’s good for these who prefer more natural looks… or who are not supposed to wear makeup at school/work (I’m not supposed to be wearing makeup, so this is easy to get away with haha – I break that rule though… so I don’t really reach for this a lot). The only times I use this mascara now is if I want to mix two formulas together… I would apply this first and then another mascara on top for best results. However, I suggest doing your research and read different opinions before deciding if you want this in your collection or not.
Will I repurchase? Definitely not. While I love Makeup Revolution (I talked about more of their products, as you can see if you go to the Review section), this is not what I am looking for in a mascara.
And that’s my thoughts on the Amazing Curl mascara 🙂 I am wondering if any of you has tried this and how did it work for you. Or should I try another mascaras from Makeup Revolution? Let me know!
Thank you for stopping by! I hope this was somewhat helpful =)
Disclaimer: This is not a sponsored post. I received the mascara for free after placing an order on Black Friday (they had a good deal/bundle going on). However, all of the opinions you read above are my own and I am not paid to feature this product on my blog.
Disclaimer 2: I am by no means trying to bash this product. While it didn’t impress me, it doesn’t mean that it cannot be what someone else is looking for. These are only my opinions and the experiences I had. Do your research and read different reviews about a product before deciding if you want to get it or not 🙂
Speaking about different reviews, here’s a 2 quid mascara I really enjoy: P.S. Love… Volumising Ultra Black mascara
