Hello beautiful, today I am going to do New Look Pure Colour haul! I picked up a few items a few weeks ago so I decided to share my review and also show you some swatches. I see that more and more fashion brands come out with their own beauty range, and these ones by New Look are pretty affordable so I decided to treat myself before Christmas 🙂 Keep on reading to see what I got and how I feel about them!
New Look Pure Colour Baked Highlighter – 93 Gold – £6.99
I swatched the tester and I knew I had to get it! Luckily I found the last one (hidden among the face powders) and I am so happy with it! It’s such a beautiful gold shade (like the name suggests) and adds a lovely glow to the skin. While it may not give you that Amrezy intense highlight effect, I think it’s worth checking out if you have the chance. It’s a bit more on the darker side so I think it would suit people with darker skin tones way better than it does me, but I still really enjoy using it. Tip: for best results, apply it with a dense brush instead of a skinny fan brush. Oh and doesn’t this remind of you some sort of MAC packaging?
New Look Pure Colour Baked Eyeshadow – 13 Cream* – £3.99
They have a few different colors of baked eyeshadows but this is the one that caught my eye most. It’s a lovely cream/champagne color and I feel like it suits me really well. I like the pigmentation and I have already worn it in a few eye makeup looks this month – love it! It also works really well as a highlighter, if I don’t want to use the gold baked highlighter or anything else from my collection. Again, the packaging is pretty sleek and it fits perfectly in my makeup bag/purse. Below you can see the New Look/ Pure Colour Baked Highlighter and Eyeshadow swatched side by side – so pretty!
New Look Pure Colour Lip Liner Pencil – 23 Mink* – £1.99
They have a few different colored lip liners, but I got this mainly because I thought it would look perfect paired with my Gerard Cosmetics Underground Lipstick. I haven’t worn that combo yet, nor did I really have the chance to give this lip liner a proper go to see how well it performs and lasts during the day, so I will have to get back to you about that. However I noticed that it glides on super smooth on my lips – they tend to be on the drier side, so I am glad that this doesn’t feel harsh! The only thing I am confused about is if I have to sharpen this or not… I can twist the bottom so I thought it would be one of these retractable liners, but it doesn’t seem to go up when I move it. And I am not a fan of sharpening pencils, sigh!…
New Look Pure Colour Matte Liquid Lipstick – 23 Mink* – £3.99
I want to switch over to using only liquid lipsticks – I love the ones that dry matte and stay on my lips all day no matter what I do. Needless to say I was excited to buy this and try it out! However I haven’t worn it on my lips.
First impression: I tried it on one day after I had previously swatched some more lipsticks (therefore my lips were kind of sore and pumped) and it looked like botox gone wrong! It was too much of a light mikly pink and again, I am not sure if it was because my lips were sore or because of the color itself, but I was not impressed. I need to try it out again, because it seemed to dry very matte and it was difficult to remove, which is exactly what I am looking for. Who knows, maybe it’s not that bad after all.
Update: The color is actually really pretty, if paired with the right eye makeup! I wore it the other day (check out the look here) and it stayed on like a dream. Indeed, the color still is a bit light for me… but with bold eyes I was able to pull it off without any problem. I also like adding this liquid lipstick on top of other colors to brighten them up and/or make them matte (check out this look for example). Totally need a few more from this range! – yes, the selfie/picture is taken with my phone, since the quality may be not as good as it should… however you should be able to get an idea of how it looks on.
Update two: I also got the shade 75 | Sweet Rose a couple of months after… I love it, way more wearable color and performs just as well! I hauled that here.
Another thing I noticed is that the lip liner and matte liquid lipstick, despite the fact that they have the same name – Mink – are pretty different colors. The lip liner is more towards a brown, while the liquid lipstick is a light pink: see them swatched side by side: Mink Lip Liner on the left and Mink Matte Liquid Lipstick on the right.
And that’s all for my New Look/ Pure Colour haul! I was looking on their website earlier while trying to find the prices for everything and it looks like they came out with a few more beauty products. Apart from the liquid lipstick which I need to try again, I am really pleased with my purchase and I think I will try out some new stuff soon! After all, I want to diversify my makeup collection this year. 🙂
