NEW! Rimmel Super Curler 24HR Mascara Review & Demo

Rimmel London recently came out with the Super Curler 24HR mascara and I decided to pick it up and see how well it performs. After using it for a week I think I made somehwat of an opinion on it and since it’s a new product I believe this review and demo will be helpful (or at least interesting to read, hopefully) for some of you :).

So if you are interested in seeing what I think about this mascara you can either keep on reading this post for the full review and also a demo in pictures or you can watch the YouTube video below. Enjoy!

So the Super Curler retails for £6.99, but I am sure that Superdrug* or Boots* often have deals on Rimmel’s products so you may even be able to get it for a little cheaper. However, even if you pay the full price it’s still pretty good.

Let’s talk about the packaging for a second…. am I the only one who thinks that purple and gold (yeah, I know it looks darker due to the flash light) go really well together? ‘Cause I think the packaging looks so damn cute 🙂 – well done Rimmel!

The brush is pretty big and dense and is slightly curved – I think that’s what is supposed to give you volume and curl your lashes, but don’t quote me on it. It deposits a good amount of product for a generous coat, but it won’t make your lashes clumpy. However it’s not very separating either… it’s kind of in between – clumpy lashes are something I don’t mind though… again I don’t think it clumps but you can have a look at the pictures below and decide for yourself :).
I also like the fact that even though it’s a pretty “fat” wand/brush I don’t mess up/get mascara on my lids very often which is obviously a good thing. Even though most of the times I’d wear eyeliner on my eyes so you wouldn’t be able to tell if I touched the very lower part of the lid anyways. Also, it’s easy to apply and to get to these inner corner or lower lashes.

The formula is quite wet, but again it’s pretty easy to get a nice application without making a mess – if you do happen to get it on your eyes though, no worries.. it’s pretty easy to clean up. Once it’s dry it doesn’t make my eyelashes feel dry/stiff which is a bonus. And most importantly, once it sets, it’s set – it doesn’t transfer and it doesn’t smudge throughout the day… and that’s what matters most to me, as I need makeup on my face for a good 15-16 hours. I haven’t tested it out for 24 hours yet, as I’ve been a good girl and removed my makeup before going to bed (but something tells me falling asleep with a face full of makeup on is loooong overdue – we’ll see how it performs). But if it lasts for 16, I suppose it might as well work just as fine for 24hr – though I don’t believe a lot of people would need mascara/makeup on for that long, hehe.

Now I’ll quote what they claim it’s supposed to do (found on the side of the packaging) and tell you if it’s true or not.
♡ “Formula with built-in lash curling power” – or if you follow Rimmel on any of their social media you’ll often see them use the #ByeByeLashCurler when promoting their new mascara. My lashes are a bit curled naturally, so it’s hard for me to tell whether or not a mascara really makes a difference. I do see a bit of a curl and it looks nice. When I did the demo I curled the eyelashes of my right eye to see if there is any difference… and the curled lashes looked pretty much the same as the not curled lashes. So, I suppose it does what it says. I’m surprised it works so well for me though, as I usually avoid curling my lashes because I find it takes away some of my length… but with this mascara I get a bit of a curl and nice length so that’s a big thumbs up for Rimmel.

♡ “Curl holds for 24 hours” – again, haven’t had the chance to test it out for that long yet, but in the evening it looks the same as when I first applied it in the morning… I suppose it does hold then :).

♡ “Lashes stay volumised and defined” – yup. It does give a bit more volume to my already pretty voluminous natural lashes and it stays like that throughout the day. Quick tip, if you want to get more product on your lashes and make them look blacker and more voluminous, use the side of the wand that is curved outwards… I find that that works nice for me.

♡ “Use alone or as a top coat” – I have only used it by itself and I like it. I also used it on top of my L’oreal Telescopic and I love it even more! It makes the lashes more bold and dramatic, which is what I am looking for in a mascara/mascara combo.

That’s all they said it’s supposed to do… and the description is pretty much the same on Superdrug’s website (same thing, different words). Long story short, it curls, volumises and most important for me lengthens and stays put throughout the day – knowing that a mascara doesn’t transfer/smudge around is the number one thing I need to know about a mascara.

I’m not very sure what else to say… as far as I know this is not waterproof and doesn’t have a waterproof version of it. But then again they’ve only launched it about a couple of weeks ago so you never know, they may come out with a waterproof formula or even different colors (but that’s another thing you shouldn’t quote me on).

Okay so for the demo part… you can click on the picture if you want to enlarge it and have a better view of how it works.

I curled the lashes on the right side of my face (a.k.a. the left side of your screen) just to see if there would be any difference – as I mentioned earlier, I don’t think it was much of a difference. So I can see why they’re trying to say bye bye to eyelash curlers.
In one coat it looks pretty nice, opens up the eyes, adds volume and a decent amount of length. In my opinion it’s pretty good for whoever prefers a more natural look or just can’t be bothered/doesn’t have time to apply loads of mascara.
As it usually works with most mascaras, in the second coat it gets way better – lashes have a lot more volume and length and they look quite curled. I think it doesn’t get too clumpy but again, it’s not the most separating mascara either. It works pretty good if you ask me though!

Okay, so I think that’s all I have to say about the Rimmel Super Curler mascara. I like it, I think it’s good and I am decided to give it a try.
Would I recommend it? Yeah, why not. I’m not saying it’s the best mascara I have ever tried, but it works nice. Besides, if you wanna try out a Rimmel mascara, I suggest you try this instead of the Wonder’full mascara, which was not very great (not at all) in my opinion. But of course, do your research before deciding whether or not you want to buy it :).

I’m looking forwards to hearing your thoughts.
Have you heard about the Rimmel London Super Curler before? Do you own it/want to buy it? How do you think it worked on my lashes?

Thank you very much for stopping by!
