Hello loves ♡ Today I am reviewing some Pura D’or products – an argan oil, as well as argan oil based shampoo and conditioner! I hope you find this helpful xo
I am going to disclose this before I am starting, Pura D’or sent me these products for review, however I am not paid to say my opinion about them. Everything you hear are 100% my thoughts.
So if you’d like to see what I think about these products, then you can keep on reading or watch the YouTube video below! 🙂
One thing I forgot to mention in the video is that they are a cruelty free brand 🙂 While I don’t particularly care about this, I know there are a looot of people out there who are 100% against animal testing. So go Pura D’or! 🙂
Okay, I’ll start with the shampoo – Pura D’Or Argan Oil Premium Organic Shampoo; Hair Loss Prevention Therapy ($24.99). I do have a lot of hair, but I still get a lot of hair falling/breaking so I was quite excited to give this a go. I did my research before accepting these products for review and everybody seemed to say really good things about Pura D’Or!
Let’s see.. I will do this in what they say vs. what I say kind of way.
♡ “12 Advance DHT blockers to stop premature hair loss” – while I have no idea and I am too lazy to look up what DHT blockers are, but let’s see… obviously a month give or take is not enough to tell if it really stops premature hair loss or not! However, I do notice significant less hair falling when I brush and straighten it. This might be TMI for some of you, but I used to get a lap full of hair by the time I was done straightening my hair – it’s very tangly, frizzy and curly naturally so brushing it through and straightening it ended up in a lot of hair falling and breaking. However these past weeks the amount of hair falling reduced by a loooot – I would say I get at least a good 1/3 less breakage than before. It must be the fact that the conditioner works really good too, and mixed with this shampoo makes my hair less tangly and easier to comb through.
♡ For thinning hair, receding hair lines and excessive shedding – as I said, I used to get excesssssiveeee shedding before, but I’m totally seeing an improvement! My hair is far from being thin, it’s actually pretty bloody thick, and I don’t really have receding hair lines (I think), but as far as I see less hair falling, I am happy!
♡ “Adds body, increases volume and thickens hair” – just mentioned that my hair is pretty thick already. With body and volume though.. in the video I said that I don’t see much of a difference. I only leave my hair natural for a few hours until it’s dry (I don’t use blow dryers :P) so I can’t really tell. After I straighten it though, it’s pretty damn flat. Which it’s always been like that no matter what shampoo I used, so I am kind of used to it. However this week I did curl my hair a few times and that’s when my opinion changed – my hair suddenly had a bit more volume and quite nice body! So I guess it depends what you’re doing to your hair really.
♡ “For all hair types, men, women & color safe” – I color my hair, but I never looked for ‘color safe’ kind of shampoos before… however I suppose it’s good to know that it is! On the back it also says it’s safe for daily use, which again I don’t do… I’ve always let a good 3-4 days pass between washes and besides I am away from home for a good 15 hours at least… you can imagine that I don’t have time to wash and then spend an hour straightening it every day, lol!
♡ Let’s see what else…
I feel like it made my hair look shinier than before. Which is a good thing! I damage my hair a lot, and I find that shiny somewhat means healthy… I like the fact that I can trick people into thinking I have healthy hair! 😀
It leaves my hair veryyyy soft! A bit too soft I would say, I have to use a lot of hair spray to make sure it won’t go all frizzy and curly from this sh*t weather! But then again it feels so nice to touch it, that I don’t mind :D.
It didn’t leave my head/scalp itchy, dry nor did it case dandruff – big thumbs up!
Speaking about dry, it does feel a bit strange when I am in the bath and wash/rinse my hair.. feels a bit dry I would say. But once it’s.. no longer wet, my hair feels very nice and faaar from being dry :).
As far as packaging goes, I like the fact that it comes with a pump – so much easier than having to squeeze out a ton of shampoo haha. However since I do have quite long hair, I need a good 9-10 pumps to be able to wash everything at once.
Regarding the texture, it kind of reminds me of a gel or something, but it applies and spreads very nice. It’s not one of these super foamy shampoos (must be the fact that it doesn’t have chemicals in it – “No SLS. No Parabens. No harsh chemicals.), but it does leave the hair very clean and nice afterwards.
Lastly, the smell is quite nice and fresh. It reminds me of a tea, or some peppermint, or both. Something fresh and natural. And after I apply the conditioner, my hair smells yummm!
Next, I have the Pura D’Or Argan Oil Premium Organic Conditioner; Lavander Vanilla ($24.99). As I just mentioned above, the smell of this is… heavenly! (if you believe in such things. It says
♡ ‘Enhance shine, manageability and control‘ – Shine yes, definitely! Manageability and control… my hair likes being all over the place, and I also use hair spray, so I am nooot very sure about that :). However if brushing and straightening it falls under that category, I can say that it does make my life easier, haha.
♡ ‘Gentle, natural and nourishing‘ – all the way! 🙂
♡ ‘Made from 99% vegetable ingredients. No SLS. No Parabens. No harsh chemicals‘ – chemistry and reading the ingredients have never been my strong points, but I don’t have to be an expert to know that sounds good 🙂
Can’t really think about what else to say about the conditioner… just like the shampoo it’s not very foamy, but I can tell that it makes my hair feel and look better 🙂 Of course I have to obsess once again over the scent – yuuuuum!!! And as I said a bit earlier, my hair is much more detangled now, which makes brushing it a much less painful experience! 🙂
Last but definitely not least… Pura D’Or Argan Oil; Body, Face and Hair Treatment; Pure, natural & organic ($24.99).
I haven’t used this on my body, but I do use this on my face every night before I go to bed and I also use it on my split ends after I wash my hair to see if it makes an improvement. This Argan Oil came with a small leaflet (I guess you can call it) and they said something about massaging it into the scalp, however I have yet to do that. As far as my ends go, they are kind of… mehhh, so it’s hard to tell if it’s made a difference.
On my face however, I really like it! They say it’s a..
♡ “Anti-aging treatment; […] eliminate dark circles and puffiness under the eyes” – puffiness yes, I can totally see an improvement when I wake up these days :). My dark circles however are hereditary (is that how you spell it?) so that’s pretty hard to eliminate. I haven’t seen a major difference on my dark circles, but then again the past weeks I have been trying to get used to a whole different schedule and haven’t been getting much sleep (wake up at 4.30 a.m, get home around 9 p.m… you do the math). As far as anti-aging goes, getting there! Sadly I had quite a few fine lines/wrinkles for my age, but I feel like lately they look better and my concealer/foundation doesn’t crease as badly. It must be working, right? 😛
♡ ‘It has skin softening agents […] it soothes damaged skin. […] Aids in building firmer skin’ Yup it does. My skin feels much softer and nicer than before, and it looks a tiny bit better as well. In the past I’ve had days when my skin looked at least a good 10 years older than it’s supposed to, but lately I didn’t have that problem anymore :).
♡ Argan Oil is popular for treating skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, acne. I don’t have any skin conditions, so I can’t tell, but just thought I’d throw it out there!
I said in the video that I am not a huge fan of the smell of this Argan Oil… it must be because that’s in fact the only ingredient it has! I was sooo used to a cheap and crappy Argan Oil based face serum which smelt really nice, but when I looked at the list of ingredients of that junk… take a guess. 32 ingredients, including perfume. So it goes without saying that I very much prefer using Pura D’or ‘s Argan Oil – I like that I am not putting a lot of useless chemicals on my face (chemicals which weren’t making an improvement anyway!). And eventually I did get used to the smell anyway :).
My skin seems to be enjoying this Argan Oil too. When I was using that crappy serum before, then my moisturizer on top of it I would wake up with suuuuch oily skin that it grossed me out – I’ve never had oily skin before, however it was something about that serum that must have caused a side effect or something. But for this past 3-4 weeks when I wake up my skin feels normal again. Not greasy whatsoever, which I am so happy about! Uhm, on the little leaflet that comes with the Argan Oil, they say it’s best used alone, but I prefer using an anti-aging night cream on top of it as well :).
Lastly, I like the fact that it sinks into the skin rather than just sitting on top of it and doing nothing. I said in the video that the first time I used it I applied a bit too many drops and my face was shiny like a disco ball, LOL. However, it did sink in pretty quickly and I could go to bed without worrying about getting oil all over my pillow :D.
And damn, this post is long!
♡ Would I recommend these products? Yes, totally, 100%. However, do your research before you dechide whether should you buy or not these products. 🙂
♡ Will I repurchase? The Argan Oil, yup absolutely. The conditioner as well! And the shampoo, well I like it so far, so if I keep seeing improvements I’ll totally buy it with my own money :).
Okay, I hope you found this review helpful!
