Review and Swatches: Makeup Revolution Iconic 2 palette

Hi there! Today I have another review&swatches for you 🙂 This time it’s going to be on the Iconic 2 palette by Makeup Revolution. I recently ordered a few products from Makeup Revolution and I got over excited when they arrived in the mail and I think I am going to review most of the products I got 🙂
In case you are not familiar with this brand, Makeup Revolution is a cruelty free UK-based cosmetics brand that has pretty amazing stuff for really affordable prices. They say that “you get what you are paying for” but let’s see if that’s really true.
This is the first time I am reviewing an eyeshadow palette so bare with me please. But if you are interested in seeing what I think about it then please keep reading 🙂 xo

Okay so I will start with the price. Not because I want you to be impressed but because this palette is said to be a dupe for Urban Decay’s Naked 2. This gorgeousness costs only £4 nd you can buy it online from Makeup Revolution’s website or from Superdrug* . While I wouldn’t call it an exact dupe after Naked 2, I have to admit that the colors look pretty darn close to the ones in Urban Decay’s palette. But then again I don’t own the Naked 2 since spending $50 on an eyeshadow palette is waaay out of my budget.
So there you go, the first pro of this palette: Affordable price and you get some eyeshadows that are pretty close to the ones from Naked 2.Now to go off topic they also have an Iconic 1 palette which is supposedly a dupe for the original Naked palette and Iconic 3 which is said to be a dupe for the Naked 3- again I do not own any UD palette so I can’t vouch for that.

I know that there are some of you out there who care about the packaging, having a mirror and stuff like that. Frankly, for the price I don’t think the packaging looks bad, it is nice and neat. No mirror but I personally don’t need one anyway. It comes with a sponge brush applicator thingy (I have no idea what to call these, lol) which I am not particularly thrilled about but whatever. I would have loved a brush like you get with the Naked 2 palette, but I think that I am asking for too much, haha.

Now on to the swatches. Let’s see..

I promise you that I swatched the first white-ish eyeshadow. But as you can tell, it doesn’t show. I don’t think it is beacause of my skin tone, or because of how the lighting hit my hand – I tried using it on my browbone as well and it was a no show. So the first shade is a bummer
Next is a sparkly golden eyeshadow which is absolutely beautiful and I know a lot of people would use it like crazy. I love how it looks and I did create a look with it the other day. Awesome sauce! Not only is it pigmented, but it also is quite creamy.
The third shade is again shimmery and it is a beautiful highlight color if you ask me.
The bronzy eyeshadow is pigmented enough and again, super pretty and great for any kind of look 🙂
I have mixed feelings about the 5th shade which is like a taupe-y eyeshadow I think? I am horrible at describing colors. It is matte and I would have loved the heck out of it but it is not as pigmented as the other ones. The first eyeshadow that doesn’t show was a matte one as well so I am guessing there is something wrong with the mattes in this palette.
Next five eyeshadows are all pretty and pigmented. And Creamy 🙂 But not hard to blend from what I noticed.  The colors looked far more vibrant in real life but got washed out by the flash light when I took the picture though.
Next is a dark brown and it is something inbetween a matte and a shimmer. That may be the reason why it isn’t as pigmented as I would have liked it to be
The black is really good if you ask me. I have yet to discover a super black black, but this one is pretty good. It is matte, but this time it has the pigmentation I am looking for

I didn’t use a primer to swatch these but I think they look pretty good by themselves so with a primer it should be even better, right?

Let’s see what else is there to talk about… I suppose some of you would wonder if these are long lasting or not. Some of the shadows I’ve tried lasted for a good at least 7 hours on my eyes without creasing or fading away. I used a concealer instead of a primer underneath them since I am running out of my DIY primer, lol.

I am running out of ideas so I am going to ask you to leave any questions down below as I am not sure what else to talk about. As I was saying earlier, it’s the first time I tried reviewing an eyeshadow palette.

So let’s recap 🙂
♡ Super affordable (and much cheaper version of Naked 2)
♡  Neat packaging & comes with a sponge applicator if anybody cares about that.
♡ 9 out of 12 eyeshadows are pigmented, creamy, pretty and easy to blend.
♡ However they could have done a much better job with the matte eyeshadows.
♡ I find this great for both natural/everyday or more dramatic looks 🙂
♡  The eyeshadows I tried lasted for a decent amount of time on my lids.

To sum it up I think it was an amazing deal and I am happy I decided to get this 🙂 I will probably get the other Iconic 1 & 3 palettes in the future as well 😀

Let me know if you own this palette and what are your thoughts on it 🙂 If you don’t own it, would you give it a go?

Thank you for stopping by and I hope this article was helpful!!
