Today I have another review and swatches on the Rimmel London Provocalips, which are probably my favorite liquid lipsticks at the moment. They last all day long and don’t make my lips feel dry – in fact they are comfortable to wear all day long (which for me often means at least 15 hours). Besides, they look amazing and are super affordable (they retail for £6.99, but you can also find a better deal at Boots* or Superdrug)…so what’s not to love :)? About half a year ago I have written a review on two other colors, 310 Little Minx & 700 Skinny Dipping, and today I decided to show you and talk about three other shades: 200 I’ll Call You, 500 Kiss Me You Fool and 730 Make Your Move.
As far as I know there are 8 shades available (they should totally come up with more if you ask me!) so I still have a few more to go before I complete my collection. I love all of the 5 liquid lipsticks I got so far and hopefully it won’t take me much longer to get my hands on the other 3.
This time I feel like starting with the lip swatches and I will bore you with the other details later on 🙂
200 I’ll Call You
This is such a beautiful and wearable pink shade! It’s perfect for daily wear as it’s that “my lips but better” kind of color and perfect for any occasion as well since it would go perfect with any makeup look. Totally a must have in my opinion, especially if you don’t like reapplying your lipstick throughout the day!
500 Kiss Me You Fool
Errrr, please excuse the not so perfect application. Anyway, I am not crazy about red lips usually… but somehow I decided to get my hands on this and fell in love with it ever since I wore it for the first time! It’s so bold and vibrant that it kind of makes me excited to wear red lipstick. Another must have color for a (date) night out or even if you wanna spice up your makeup on a daily basis.
730 Make Your Move
Obsessed with the Kylie Jenner lip colors? So am I! Lately I found myself very interested in dark nude/brown lip colors as long as they don’t have warm undertones. And that’s why I was super excited when I tried this on – obsessed with it and it’s probably my go to color at the moment. Besides, I reckon it would look great on a lot of different skin tones.
Okay, time for the review part of this post! Just like last time (as usual, actually) I will tell you what they say and then make my comments on it.
♡ “Kiss proof, transfer proof, food proof high impact endless colour”
Kiss proof, yes. Of course it depends on the type of kissing you’re doing, but I find that even if I french kiss a lot it the lipstick will stay put for the first few hours. It’s only after 8-10 hours that it starts fading when I french kiss like crazy. Which some people don’t overdo, but hey.. I love kissing, haha.
Transfer proof – yes. As long as you apply the sealer side all over the lips and don’t miss any spots. Sometimes I would fail to apply the sealer properly in the very inner part of my lips so I do get small dots of lipstick transferring on my cigarettes. However it’s doesn’t affect how my lips look, the rest of the color which is set stays on amazingly. Just be careful and take the extra seconds while applying the sealer 🙂
Food proof? Haha, yeah. Even if you have greasy meals and wipe your lips afterwards, the Provocalips stays on. You will have a little bit of transfer on your napkin, but the color still stays on your lips.
Endless color? Hell, yes! My lips look just as amazing 13+ hours after first applying the lipstick. Love it! The ‘top coat’ will provide a glossy finish at first, which wears off pretty quickly leaving the lips matte (which in fact I love and prefer), but other than that I have no complaints.
♡ “No tight feeling or dry lips. Lips feel smooth and moisturized all day long.”
I wouldn’t call this moisturizing. After all, liquid lipsticks are supposed to dry matte… and matte has nothing to do with moisture in my opinion. However yeah, my lips don’t feel dry – again, as long as the ‘top coat’ side is applied properly! – the color itself is drying, but once you apply the sealer you’re fine and will not need to touch up throughout the day. My lips don’t feel tight either, which is great. Maybe a little bit tacky, but it doesn’t bother me. Of course, as the hours pass your lips will not look as pumped/full as when you first apply the color, but don’t worry, they won’t look as if you’re dead.
♡ “Easy removal with oil based makeup remover”
Umm… to be honest, I don’t have an oil based makeup remover. I often use wipes or just wash my face with water and soap because I am too lazy to take off my makeup. I did hear a lot of people kind of complain about how the Rimmel London Provocalips are hard to remove (I agree, the first time I tried to take the color off nothing worked… not even using a tooth brush to wipe my lips clean) but I’ll share my trick with you: apply a lip balm about 10 minutes or so before you want to remove your lipstick/makeup. It will glide off without any trouble.
How long have I worn these for? 15-16 hours for most of them. They stay on amazing and as I said in the beginning of this post, they are very comfortable to wear – I forget that I even have product on my lips, haha. I did manage to fall asleep with a couple of them on my lips (I am terribleee at taking off my makeup sometimes) and I was surprised to see that they lasted until next day. If you think about it… there aren’t a lot of lipsticks that stay on for more than 24+ hours, are there?
And now let’s see what else… I’ll just quote what I said when I first reviewed the other 2 Rimmel London Provocalips 🙂
“♡ The size: you get 7ml of product (4ml for the lip color, and 3ml for the seal). I think I would have liked it better if they put more ‘top coat’. I find that I use more of than in order to make sure my lip color stays in place all day… I wouldn’t want the color to fade in certain areas and be super bright in other spots, lol.
♡ Packaging… nice and cute – I like the kisses on it, haha.
♡ The pigmentation of the lipstick is true to color to what you see on the packaging 🙂
♡ “Doe-foot” (basic lipgloss) applicator, easy to work with and get into the smaller areas of your lips (inner corners, cupid’s bow).
♡ Scented? The colour itself doesn’t seem to have any fragrance, but the ‘top coat’ has a bare scent.. kind of smells like cosmetics, nothing too overwhelming or bothering though.”
Bottom line: I think the Rimmel London Provocalips are such amazing products! None of these colors disappointed me (in fact, there’s only one Rimmel product that I tried and didn’t like) I am totally looking forwards to completing my collection. Needless to say I recommend these but of course I encourage you to do more research before deciding whether or not you need them 🙂
And that’s all for my Rimmel London Provocalips Review & Swatches 🙂 Have you tried the them? I’d love to hear your thoughts 🙂
