Sleek Au Naturel Palette Review and Swatches

Hello beautiful,

Today I am reviewing the Sleek Au Naturel Palette and showing you swatches of the eyeshadows. I picked this up because Wayne Goss/GossMakeupArtist on YouTube said in his best drugstore eyeshadows of 2015 video that Sleek shadows are phenomenal and featured this and one other i-Divine palette. So I thought I might as well buy it as I’ve never tried out anything from Sleek before and one of my goals for 2016 is to diversify my makeup collection (there are people who want to be healthy and join a gym, and there is me wanting more makeup – some may call me shallow, but at least I’m realistic!).
The Sleek Au Naturel palette, as well as all of their i-Divine eyeshadow palettes, retails for £7.99 but I managed to find a deal on Superdrug* and get two for £10. That felt like a bargain, so I added this to my cart as well as the Oh So Special palette. Boots* also has nice deals on makeup brands every now and then, so keep an eye on both websites to save as much as you can :).

The colors are so pretty and I feel like there is a good selection of shades: you can go for natural looks (or ‘naturel’ I suppose… why French though?!?) and you can also add a subtle hint of color or go for more dramatic looks. I like wearing dramatic makeup, so being able to create different bold looks with one palette is great. Also, I haven’t really experienced fall out, and the shadows are really soft/smooth – especially the shimmery ones, they feel like butter!

I am really happy with how the eyeshadows in the Sleek Au Naturel palette stay put throughout the day. I’ve worn different combos and my makeup looked as good at night as it did in the morning. I also like that the palette comes with a full sized mirror, it’s really useful but I hate that double ended sponge applicator… why do brands still do this?! I always complain about having a cheap sponge applicator thrown in a palette… am I the only one who would rather pay a bit more for a crappy brush, at least?! Anyways, let’s move on to the swatches…
Not gonna lie, I could probably hit pan and still wouldn’t of been able to swatch these first top 4 eyeshadows. I managed to get them to show up on my eyes with a primer underneath, but on my hand I couldn’t really get anything to show… I was quite disappointed at first, but as I mentioned earlier I like wearing more dramatic makeup looks so the fact that the darker shadows are better made up for these four.

As you can see the shimmery/glittery shades are more pigmented than the mattes, but that is something that sadly I am started to get used to… I think that Bark and Regal look great as matte crease or outer corner colors, but then again I have to go in a couple times to build the color up. However I am really impressed with Noir, the black shade. I think a matte black eyeshadow is a staple and having a really pigmented one I can use to darken up my looks or to set the liner I apply on my waterline without having to reach for another palette is perfect!

Now let’s take a second to admire these shimmery shadows… how pretty! I’ve worn Taupe and/or  Moss on my lids a few times and absolutely loved them! I have yet to wear Conker as a lid color, I think it would look stunning! However I did try it as a outer V color when I was checking out the 60 second drugstore smokey eye technique (another Wayne Goss video reference, I should probably go ahead and subscribe to the man since I mention him so much!) and it blended a bit too much, looking more as a muted purple than the gorgeous shimmery shade you see in the pan. With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, I feel like I should go ahead and pop this all over my eyes soon, hehe.

Overall I can say I am pretty pleased with the Sleek Au Naturel palette. Yeah, some eyeshadows could do with more pigmentation, but I still get great use out of it. Sure, when someone basically names it the best palette of the year you expect all of the shades to be amazing, but hey I reckon it still was a good deal and I am glad I decided to give it a go!

I’d love to know if you have ever tried this palette and what are your thoughts on it!
Also, if you are familiar with Sleek makeup products, is there anything you would recommend checking out? I’d love to try more of their stuff, but there are so many options that I’m not sure what to pick! Looking forwards to hearing your suggestions 🙂

And that’s all for my review and swatches of the Sleek Au Naturel Palette!
Thank you for taking the time to stop by 🙂

    1. Yes you’re right, I feel like other drugstore brands (like Makeup Revolution, I own a lot of their palettes so I would know) need to work on their light mattes! x
