Hello beauties! Today I decided to take a break from my usual cat eyes and go for something that’s in trend this spring: a sultry brown smokey eye 🙂 I hope you enjoy ♡
If you’d like to see how I got this look then feel free to watch the YouTube video or keep on reading this post for a step by step tutorial 🙂 xo
As always I’m going to skip straight to my eye makeup… the first thing I did was apply a brown eyeliner all over my lid and then blend that out with my ring finger.
Then I took a warm peachy eyeshadow on to a fluffy brush and I applied that in my upper crease area, as a transition color.
Once I was happy with the intensity, I applied a bronzey brown eyeshadow in the crease and I blended it with the peachy eyeshadow that I had on.
Using the same brush, I took a quite dark cool-toned brown eyeshadow and I applied that all over the lid. Make sure to blend properly so that there are no harsh lines and the transition between each shade isn’t that obvious. Also go ahead and reapply the colors if they lose intensity or if they are not as pigmented as you’d like them to be – go as bold or as soft as you’d like :). For my lower lash line I just ran the brush back and forth with whatever pdocut was left on it – I wanted to have a little bit of color, but not too much.
In order to highlight my browbone and inner corner I just used some white eyeshadow. Not very pigmented, but it was enough to pull the look together.
Then I took a white eyeliner and I applied that in my waterline. I usually always go for black, but I thought it would be interesting to go for a change. And make my eyes seem a bit bigger and more awake, hehe :). I feel like this adds just the right amount of freshness to the look.
Next I took a black eyeliner and I put that on my tightline as well as lined quite messily my eyes. I didn’t create a perfect line, and didn’t exactly line the entire eye either, there was no point in that since I took the fluffy brush with the dark brown eyeshadow and smudged that out :). I felt like I needed a little bit of extra darkness, but I did create a more proper line later on (totally optional though).
I also touched up that peachy eyeshadow that I first applied, as it wasn’t as visible as I wanted it to be anymore.
Afterwards I curled my lashes and applied two generous coats of mascara. You can stop with the eye makeup at this point or you can go ahead and apply some falsies… which is what I did 🙂 Nothing too dramatic though.
I felt like I needed to cover that lash band as I was too lazy to clean it properly before reusing my falsies… so I took a black liquid liner and drew a line as small as I could. That’s it for the eye makeup I believe.
For my lips I went for a quite natural pink color. However, I smudged the lipstick out using my fingers… I don’t remember what website did I read this on.. but it was something among the lines of…messy brown smokey eyes and freshly kissed lips are in trend this spring. I didn’t have anybody to kiss me to the point where my lipstick would smudge out, so I just blended it with my fingers, haha.
And that’s all for this look! Let me know what you think about it 🙂
